Thais Beltrame's beautiful and ethereal pen and ink drawings have gathered a deserved huge international following. Her unique blend of stunningly executed illustration along with her dark wit produces touching, focused drawings that are openly infused with her spirit and emotion. As she says:
Everything I live ends up digested on paper, along with deep-seated emotions. I like to stir up things and let the drawings be what they wish to be, and tell me whatever they want to. I've given up control on them.
Her work often features children, their innocence, questioning, and lack of emotional fear offering ideal muses for Beltrame to express truths and wonderings about the world and humanity. Her Childhood Cruelty series is drawn from true stories of people's childhood experiences, perfectly showcasing her ability to evoke smiles, empathy and thought in equal measure.
Beltrame recently held a successful solo show in LA and has exhibited solo and group shows throughout her native Brazil and in Europe.
